Independent P.E.
Independent P.E. is open to 10-12 grade students involved in San Ramon Valley High School interscholastics athletic teams only. This program is for those students that do not have room in their school day for a SRVHS physical education course, and are highly independent, organized, and responsible. The program is solely initiated and maintained by the student throughout their season. 11th graders (2009-10 graduates) currently enrolled in ISPE program and still need 5 PE credits to graduate may apply with other programs.- To be eligible for ISPE students must have passed the California State Fitness Gram in 9th grade.
- Do not include Independent Study PE on your registration form.
- Students must maintain a minimum of 6 academic classes and maintain a 2.0 GPA throughout their season of sport; no aide, no study hall, or P.E.
- Aide or study hall may be the student's 7th class.
- P.E. and Independent P.E. may not be taken concurrently.
- Student must present the application with a verified copy of their current schedule to the ISPE Coordinator by the second Friday of each season of sport. Students may sign up to get their schedule in the counseling office during brunch.
- Applications are available from Mrs. MacPhail in the girls' P.E. office during Brunch only.
- Students must maintain a time card which is to be signed by their coach/instructor weekly; and by the IPE Coordinator every two weeks. Hours must be logged throughout the entire season/semester. The coach must complete a final signature to verify completion of the season of sport. Only practice/conditioning hours with the coach apply.
- The IPE Coordinator is available to sign time cards during Brunch only in the girls' P.E. office. Failure to maintain the time card will result in being dropped from the program.
- Deadlines: Fall sports is the second Friday after the start of school; Winter and Spring is the second Friday after the start of their season of sport
- There is no partial credit. Students must complete a minimum of 75 hours and the entire season of their sport, and maintain a 2.0 GPA during their season to receive 5 credits of Pass, . Retroactive and summer hours cannot be applied.
- Students may earn a maximum of 5 credits per semester for up to two semesters. 10 of the 20 physical education credits required for graduation must be earned through enrollment in a regular P.E. class at SRVHS.
- Fall sports grades are awarded at the end of the Fall semester; Winter and Spring sports are awarded grades at the end of the Spring semester.
- After their freshman year, students have three years to complete 10 additional credits in physical education.
